Medical Records Processing Clerk

Health Affiliates Maine has an opening for a Medical Records Processing Clerk to join their team. This is a full-time, 40 hr/wk, role. 

A Medical Records Processing Clerk’s main function is obtaining medical records from the electronic health record in order to process release requests. 

Roles and Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to the following):

  • Data Entry for WITS.
  • Process all record requests by verifying valid authorizations to release information, collecting the minimum patient information needed to fulfill request from the EHR, and providing the documentation to the requestor adhering to all applicable HIPAA rules.
  • File clinical records as needed.
  • Assist with the discharge process for CM and OT client charts; Scan documents as needed.
  • Sort incoming client paperwork and distribute accordingly. (to include archiving discharges, separate private and MaineCare clients, scan and upload to EHR, etc)
  • Assist staff with pulling and/or locating client charts as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the Privacy Officer as needed to complete HIPAA related tasks.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as deemed necessary by the Management Team. 

Minimum Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • High School Education or Equivalent
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail are important skills needed.
