As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I will provide coordinated medication management care for older adolescents and adult patients in and around the Mount Desert Island area. I have been practicing in this area since 2011 and have a generalist approach. I am deeply rooted in this community, and Downeast Maine, going back many generations. As a result, I am invested and connected to the people here.
I am now offering genomic testing to help identify the most effective treatment based on my patients’ DNA. This may be helpful in treating individuals whose symptoms have been resistant or who have had trouble tolerating medications. Furthermore, I will also be accepting patients interested in Tele-Psychiatry, which are those who may have transportation issues, may be living in rural areas, struggle to leave home, frequently travel or have busy schedules.

As a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist I provide psychiatric care to patients in the greater Bangor area, where I have been practicing for 10 years. I have experience treating a wide range of issues affecting children and teens, including anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorder, trauma, autism/developmental delays, and bipolar illness.
Originally from Orono, I returned to Maine to begin my career in 2004, where I have worked primarily in a community mental health setting. I enjoy collaborating with other providers and educators to serve families using a team-based approach. I carefully consider all factors contributing to emotional and behavioral distress, and partner with families in developing strategies to improve functioning and overall well-being.
Due to challenges I have encountered working with other insurance companies, I have had to limit the number of commercial carriers I accept. Instead I offer the option to self-pay for my services and I will provide the documentation you need to request reimbursement from your insurance for out-of-network services. Families should check with their insurance carrier to confirm they have out-of-network coverage before pursuing this option. Families with high-deductible insurance coverage may apply the payment for my services to their annual deductible. The fee for a 90 minute initial evaluation is $300, and 30 minute follow-up visits are $120.

I graduated from Husson College in 2002 with a Masters in Psychiatric Nursing. She initially provided therapy for Individuals, Adolescents and Couples before completing her Nurse Practitioner Certification in 2006. I have since provided Therapy and Medication Management for clients ages 13 and up.
I started my career in nursing as an LPN and then a RN in 1976. I have worked previously as a Critical Care nurse throughout the country in Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Open Heart Recovery and the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. This experience has given me the ability to view a client from all systems. My practice is eclectic with the primary focus on the relationship between a client and the practitioner. I views this relationship as a “partnership” that aims for the best possible result in managing the client’s mental health.
I provider individual therapy in an eclectic style with focus on what client needs are at the moment. I prefer to “partner” with clients such that they/we work together to meet their needs, whether with therapy or medication management.
